About RunnersWorld

RunnersWorld is an online store specialising in the best running products, from trail running shoes to clothing and accessories. The site was formed by runners for runners who understand their customers requirements and strive to achieve the best solutions at the best possible prices.

RunnersWorld understand the importance of selecting the right running shoes and are using their expertise are able to optimise the choice of footwear and apparel to the type and style of running. Consequently RunnersWorld have a plethora of useful information on their site to advise on the best running shoes as well as stocking all major running shoe brands such as Adidas, Asics, Brooks and Saucony, they also keep a wide range of other training essentials, including running clothing, heart-rate monitors, socks, nutrition and more.

Project Detail

Centurius were commissioned to redesign, restructure and redevelop RunnersWorld’s existing ecommerce web site from their current version 10 software to the latest version of the Actinic Business Ecommerce (V11).

From an initial telephone conference with the client, it was agreed that the new look of the website required a restructure to allow clear gender/product type navigation areas, large advertisement areas and enhanced site functionality to encourage customer purchasing. The main homepage required a redesign to allow for larger adverts, and introducing a multi tab best sellers, new arrivals and staff choices. It was also agreed that some design features of the original such as the corporate colour palette and the gradient headers should be retained.

The design layout of the site, called for an increase in width as the accommodation of more product real estate was essential. A new mega menu system was also introduced within the template replacing the existing left hand navigation layout. This allowed a restructure of the site allowing clearer focus for their male/female customers. From a marketing perspective Centurius introduced an integrated newsletter sign-up form which registered any new customers directly into the clients email marketing database.

A number of external plug-ins were kept from the original snapshot to entice the customer into purchasing their products, such as the multi image function, and the tabber plugin which allows large amounts of content to be dissected into bite-size tabs of information.
